Finland is the most competitive and innovative country in Europe, according to the World Economic Forum (WEF). Finland is “a global leader in moving towards a digital economy” and boasts an enterprise environment that “fosters business creation”, the WEF touts in the 2014 edition of its Europe 2020 Competitiveness Report. Meanwhile, the Finnish economy is mired in recession and crisis awareness is growing.
