Chechen rebel website may re-open soon

 print this
The Finnish proprietor of the controversial Chechen rebels' web pages intends to re-open the site in the near future. The operator Mikael Storsjö believes that the kavkazcenter.com pages will go online again soon.
Ten days ago, Storsjö closed down the website after having discussed the matter with Finland's Security Police (SUPO).
The Kavkaz Center website started operating out of Finland two weeks ago, through a server that uses a high-speed connection provided by the network operator TeliaSonera Finland.
The website, which in recent years has gone online from hosts in several different countries, is the primary mouthpiece used by a number of Chechen rebel leaders. In September the site was operated from Lithuania, until the local authorities shut the web pages down. Further details can be found in the linked articles.
