The National Bureau of Investigation, Finland’s Central Criminal Police, are to investigate suspected white-collar crimes in the State Provincial Office of Lapland.
According to the TV news of the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE), the Chief Secretary of the State Provincial Office of Lapland is suspected of several offences including at least malfeasance, as well as other possible wrongful conduct in office.
The Chief Secretary himself denies all allegations of illegal actions.
The National Bureau of Investigation are examining irregularities related to official journeys, managerial procedures, and to the financial monitoring of the Administrative Unit, among other things.
Previously these issues have already been looked into, for instance by the State Audit Office. Even Lapland’s Governor Hannele Pokka is likely to be interviewed, although she herself is not suspected of any crime.
