Former Nokia Executive Vice President and General Manager of Nokia Networks Sari Baldauf has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American computer and printer manufacturer Hewlett-Packard (HP). Baldauf will be voted on in the annual shareholder's meeting in Los Angeles on March 15th.
HP is one of the world's largest IT companies, employing over 150,000 people in over 170 countries. In the fiscal year that ended in October, HP's net sales reached $ 86.7 billion or EUR 70.6 billion.
Patricia Dunn, HP's Non-executive Chairman of the Board, said in the company's Tuesday announcement that she was delighted at Baldauf's decision to come aboard.

"We will benefit from her experience running a large, multinational business, her deep knowledge of the communications industry, and her strong, firsthand experience in overseas markets," said Dunn.
Sari Baldauf, 50, announced her retirement from Nokia towards the end of 2004, effective from January 2005. Baldauf justified her decision to leave the Finnish mobile phone giant by her aspiration to concentrate on her hobbies and studies.
Baldauf worked at Nokia for 22 years. She took over the helm of Nokia's network division in 1999. During her Nokia years, several economic journals listed Baldauf as Europe's most influential female director.
