Norwegian shipbuilder Aker Yards' Finnish operation Aker Finnyards looks set to receive a EUR 1.2 billion luxury cruise liner contract, writes maritime newspaper Lloyd's List.
According to the paper, Norwegian entrepreneur Olav Norum has chosen the Finnish shipbuilding yard to produce three cruise ships and a luxury yacht targeted for the American market as floating conference centres.
"We have decided to go for Finnyards, because they offered a delivery schedule 10 months faster than their competitors", Mr Norum told the newspaper.
Each one of the cruise ships will cost around EUR 390 million, while the luxury yacht's price tag is EUR 20 million.
