It was reported on Friday morning that all of the ten victims of Tuesday's school massacre in Kauhajoki have now been formally identified.
The process was not as straightforward as might have been imagined in a shooting incident such as this, for the fires set by the perpetrator left some of the bodies badly burned.
Identification was possible only through DNA-matching and dental records.

According to Chief Inspector Jari Neulaniemi, leading the police investigation, the certainty of identification is 100%.
Forensic examinations will continue after the identification process has been resolved, meaning that the bodies of the victims cannot as yet be released to their families.
A police chaplain and psychologist notified the relatives in person on Thursday.

Eight of the victims were female students, one a male student, and one a male teacher.
The gunman Matti Juhani Saari also died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
