Anne Brunila to leave Finnish Forest Industries Federation and take post at Fortum

The President and CEO of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) Anne Brunila has announced her resignation from the Federation after just over three years in the job.
      Dr. Brunila has accepted a position in the management team of the Finnish energy supplier Fortum. From October 1st, Brunila’s position will be Executive Vice President in charge of Fortum’s Corporate Relations and Sustainability.
     
Brunila has been leading the FFIF since the beginning of 2006. Prior to the Federation position, she worked as the Director-General of the Economics Department at the Ministry of Finance.
      "The Federation's work will be continued on the basis of its strong expertise while the Board is looking for a successor to continue the work on behalf of the Finnish forest industries", says Kari Jordan, Chairman of the Board of the FFIF.
      Tapio Kuula, President and CEO of Fortum, said that he wanted to recruit Brunila because she has ”an extensive track record”, good contacts, and strong expertise in environmental and climate issues.
     
The recruitment is a part of the reorganisation initiated by the new President and CEO, who took over from Mikael Lilius in April of this year.
      According to the reorganisation, Fortum’s new business divisions are Power, Heat, Russia, and Electricity Solutions and Distribution.
      The purpose of the reorganisation is to simplify the organisational structure and to clarify accountabilities, says Kuula.
      The new Russia Division will consist of Fortum’s activities in Russia, and it will be led from Chelyabinsk by Executive Vice President Alexander Chuvaev.
