Another publisher to withdraw three Porma novels from circulation following alleged plagiarism
The Averssi Publishers will withdraw from circulation the three latest novels by crime fiction writer Maija Porma.
Porma is Averssi’s only writer, and the withdrawal was announced by her husband, who works at the publishers. In practice, Averssi is Porma’s self-publishing company.
Helsingin Sanomat reported on Wednesday that at least six passages in Porma's Pohjalainen pankkiryöstö ("Nordic Bank Robbery", 2004) are practically identical to chunks of Outi Pakkanen's detective novel Pelistä pois ("Out Of The Game", Otava, 2001).
After the news, the Tampere-based publishers Pilot kustannus announced that Porma’s book will be withdrawn from circulation and the copies destroyed.
