Apprehended man confesses to Pori killings

 print this
The young man suspected of having killed the two women found dead in his rental flat in the city of Pori on Finland's west coast has confessed to the killings. In the police investigation it has also emerged that the suspect himself first notified the authorities of the bodies in his flat.

The man was apprehended on Thursday. Today, Friday, the police will request at the Pori District Court that the man be remanded in custory on suspicion of a double murder.
The bodies were found in the young man’s apartment on Wednesday after he had contacted the police. The police apprehended the man on the street two hundred metres away from the apartment soon after the bodies had been discovered.

The authorities do not believe other individuals are involved in the case of a double homicide.
The female victims have been established as Pori residents, born in 1981 and 1985. The police are now trying to ascertain their connection with the suspect, who is 19 years of age.

For the time being, Det. Insp. Erik Salonsaari from the Pori Criminal Police is refraining from revealing any details into how the killings were carried out. The murder weapon is in police possession.
The way the killings were carried out nevertheless contains such brutal aspects that the police have no choice but to investigate the deed as a double murder.
The women lost their lives last weekend.
