Two young women were found dead in a rental flat in the west coast city of Pori at around two o’clock on Wednesday afternoon.
The police are investigating the case as a double murder.
A Pori man born in 1987, from whose residence the bodies were discovered, is suspected of having carried out the killings.
The police apprehended the man on the street two hundred metres away from the apartment, less then an hour after the bodies had been discovered. The man did not resist the arresting officers.
According to the chief investigator Erik Salonsaari, the ascertaining of the identity of the victims is still under way.
According to the preliminary information from the police, the victims are Pori residents in their early twenties.
In Salonsaari’s view, the way the killings were carried out contains such brutal features that the perpetrator has to be suspected of murder. At this stage the police refuse to reveal other information into how the women lost their lives.
According to Salonsaari, the killings have taken place already a few days ago.
"Currently we are trying to establish the time of death of the women. Our assumption is that they were killed sometime last weekend."
According to the preliminary information, the women had been visiting a supported rental apartment in a block of service flats.
The man supected of the crime was questioned soon after his apprehension. The police have not yet revealed whether he has confessed to the killings.
