CORRECTION TO EUROPEAN CULTURAL CAPITAL STORY FROM 25.1.2010
In a story dating back to January 25th, 2010, on issues related to the status of the Estonian capital Tallinn as one of the European Capitals of Culture in 2011, we wrote, that Jaanus Mutli, who had been put in charge of marketing and finances for the project, “had been convicted of corruption”, and that he had appealed the conviction.
We have since been informed that while a court had found that Mutli had violated corruption legislation, the violation had occurred such a long time ago that the statute of limitations had passed.
There had also been reports of bribe taking in his activities, which the court passed on to the public prosecutor. Mutli appealed the decision to Estonia’s Supreme Court.
