Centre Party losing popular support

Centre Party losing popular support

A survey commissioned by the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE and conducted by the market researchers Taloustutkimus showed a decline in the support of one of the two the main government parties, the Centre Party, in April.
According to the opinion poll, both the conservative National Coalition Party (the Centre's coalition partners) and the opposition Social Democrats have somewhat increased their support since the last such survey in March.
The numbers match up fairly well with a Helsingin Sanomat/Suomen Gallup poll in March that saw the Centre dropping into third place nationally.

At present, the National Coalition Party is in the lead with a 22.9 % backing, followed by the SDP (21.8 %), and the Centre Party (21.7 %).
The surveys conducted by Taloustutkimus also indicate that the present 21.7 % support for the Centre Party is their lowest rating for six years.
The poll shows further that the ranking order of other parties was as follows: Green League (9.9 %), Left Alliance (8.3 %), the True Finns (5.2 %), Christian Democrats (4.5 %), and the Swedish People’s Party (4.4 %).
The Greens and the SPP are minority members in the four-party government coalition.
