In an item of news we missed from a day or two ago, Blooddrunk, the sixth studio album by Finnish power metal band Children of Bodom, has gone straight to No.1 in the British rock album charts in the week of its release in the UK.
The album is residing rather lower, at No. 44, on the UK’s official album lists, based on sales around the country.
The rock list looks only at sales through certain stores specialising in rock music, and does not necessarily represent huge sales nationwide.
In fact it is arguably more significant that the disc has reached as high as 44th on the broader list.
The band is also doing well on the equivalent rock singles chart, where the title track Blooddrunk is in 2nd spot. The list is drawn up weekly by BBC Radio 1.
Finnish "symphonic metal" outfit Nightwish are also represented on this list, with Bye Bye Beautiful at No.4 and Nemo at No.6.
