A total of around 17,400 new motor vehicles were registered in Finland in October, with cars accounting for some 12,700 of this figure. The number of first registrations was up by 3.3% on October 2004, according to Statistics Finland.
      Approximately 11,200 new cars were registered in October, a rise of just under 1% on the previous year. The figures are based on those provided by AKE, the vehicle regulation authority.
     
Between January and the end of October, a total of 224,000 new vehicles were registered, showing growth of 5.4% on the previous year to that date. Cars accounted for 132,400 of these first registrations during the ten months, up by 4.6% on 2004.
      The most common makes of car among registrations in the first ten months of 2005 were Toyota, Volkswagen, and Nissan.
