Cranberry-stuffed Gaudiano olives are being withdrawn from market

Precaution follows hard on heels of fatal botulism incident

Two batches of cranberry-stuffed Bio Gaudiano olives are to be withdrawn from sale, the Finnish Food Safety Authority (EVIRA) announced on Saturday.
The Italian olives have been for sale in Center-Inn Restaurants and at some K-supermarkets in the Greater Helsinki area.

The batch numbers on the products are H2510X (Best before 08/2010) and L0710Y (Best before 09/2012).
Consumers are asked to return the olives to the place of purchase.

At the end of October, an elderly woman died in Helsinki of botulinus intoxication, the source of which was identified as a jar of Gaudiano Bio almond-stuffed olives imported from Italy last autumn.
Laboratory tests have since shown that only the jar in the fatal case contained botulinus toxin, but that several of the packages had quality flaws.
