Tomorrow, Thursday, sees the 17th consecutive holding of the annual "Night of the Arts" carnival, an extravaganza that brings art and cultural happenings of various forms onto the streets of the Finnish capital.
The event, which starts in the afternoon and continues well into the small hours, consists of over 120 separate programme numbers stretching from poetry through a Cocktails Festival and Vietnamese dragon-dances to a drag show.
Finding your own design style, solving detective murder mysteries, or receiving an Indian head massage are just some of the plethora of attractions available.
Over 20 of the early evening happenings, such as printing animal footprints or constructing models of planets, have been compiled with children in mind.
The event, with a larger programme selection than ever before, kicks off at the Helsingin Sanomat office building Sanomatalo at 17.00.
Details of the evening's attractions can be found from the Helsinki Festival site, linked below. If you are looking for things in the immediate downtown area, don't forget that the word for "City Centre" is "Keskusta".
After last year's rain, the weather forecast for Thursday promises drier conditions and the possibility of a warm evening, so large crowds are anticipated, the terraces will be doing good business, and taking the car is definitely not recommended. Late-night additional bus and train services will be laid on to get people home.
