National Coalition Party chairman Jyrki Katainen says that Deputy Parliamentary Speaker Ilkka Kanerva (Nat. Coalition Party) had not shown due consideration when he sent SMS text messages late at night to the mobile telephones of certain young women celebrities.
Katainen told the Finnish News Agency STT that he held a short private conversation with Kanerva over the matter, which has been a focus of attention in the Finnish tabloid press.
Kanerva told Katainen his version of the events. No disciplinary actions are expected in the matter.

Kanerva himself admitted in a television interview programme on Wednesday evening that he had made a mistake.
He promised to mend his ways, adding that he did not believe that his actions have reduced the confidence felt by his fellow party members in him.
Asked if he planned to present his own version of the events someday, he answered "perhaps".
