Details emerging of YouTube videos and connection with Kauhajoki shooting
 |
Almost immediately after news broke of the shooting in Kauhajoki that has so far claimed nine lives, suspicious video and picture material was found from Internet sites.
Videos were found on the YouTube site, and amidst a sizeable package of information that was posted on the WWW and spread across the Net like wildfire immediately after midday on Tuesday.
According to the subsequent user-posts uploaded to the YouTube videos, the film-clips showed a 22-year-old man from Kauhajoki.
As yet no direct confirmed link has been made between the videos and the incident at the vocational school in Kauhajoki, though few at present are expressing many doubts on the subject.
The Kauhajoki man apparently logged in to YouTube for the final time at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
The material uploaded elsewhere on the Net resembles the "media package" discovered after the killings at Jokela High School last November, when a disturbed pupil - Pekka-Eric Auvinen - left texts, images and videos online before shooting eight people and eventually himself.
The Latest YouTube material showed several video clips in which a young man fired a pistol, apparently a Walther P22, on a shooting range.
The other video material is of a more threatening nature. In one clip, the man says: ”You will die next”, and fires a volley of shots towards the camera on the ground.
The man's sign-on name on the YouTube site - Wumpscut - refers to a German electro-industrial band.
In his Youtube profile, the man quotes the band's song War: “Whole life is war and whole life is pain / and you will fight alone in your personal war”.
The YouTube admin reacted quickly to events in Kauhajoki, and the man's latest video was quickly removed, with other material being taken down shortly afterwards.
In addition to his presence on YouTube, the suspected gunman also had a profile on the IRC-galleria site, to which he uploaded his latest pictures on Tuesday morning.
Again, the account was swiftly closed after news of the shootings started to come through.
