The Finnish animated feature Nico and the Way to the Stars won both the main prize and the audience prize at the Cinekid International film, television and new media festival for children and young people held in The Netherlands during the weekend.
It was the first time in the 22-year history of the festival that the same film won both main prizes. Each of the prizes are worth EUR 15,000.
Distribution rights for the computer animated production have been sold to more than 100 countries.
The Cinekid festival is one of the best-known film festivals for children’s and youth cinema. Competing at the festival were 15 new children’s films from around the world.
