Estonian police arrest suspected source of bogus explosives tipoff
Police in Estonia arrested a man on Tuesday on suspicion of making false reports of a truck loaded with explosives leaving the port of Tallinn by ship.
One call went to Estonia’s border guard service and the other was to the passenger harbour in Tallinn.
The calls were traced to the suspect’s telephone. However, he has denied making the calls.
No motive for the action was given. Estonian police said that the information about the matter was "confused".
The tipoff led to an extensive search of vehicles arriving at the Port of Helsinki on Saturday night, causing delays in passenger services between the Finnish and Estonian capitals.
