 print this
Finland has been involved in United Nations peacekeeping operations since the 1950s.

The first Finnish peacekeepers were sent to the UNEF I operation at the Suez Canal and the Sinai Peninsula in 1956 after Israel had attacked Egypt.

Finland has taken part in about 30 UN peacekeeping operations.

At present there are Finnish peacekeepers in the UNIFIL operation in Lebanon, in the Mideaset observer operation UNTSO, in the UNMOGIP operation in Kashmir, and in the INMIL operation in Liberia.

Over 400 Finns are taking part in various crisis management and peacekeeping operations. In the late 1990s about 2,000 Finnish soldiers were deployed on peacekeeping missions.
