Veterans athletics is training and competition for those over the age of 35.
     
Athletes are divided into age classes, each five years apart.
     
The European Championships and the World Championships are held every second year.
     
The World Championships will be held in Lahti, Finland in 2009.
     
The Finnish Veterans' Athletics Federation coordinates veterans' events in athletics, skiing, and ice skating.
     
The Federation has a membership of 8,620, which is divided into 324 separate associations.
