The Volvo Group manufactures trucks, buses, earthwork machinery, diesel and sea engines, and components for aircraft engines.
     
In 2004 the group’s turnover was about EUR 22 billion. By way of comparison, Nokia’s turnover in 2004 was EUR 29 million.
     
Volvo sold its passenger car manufacturing capacity to Ford in 1999. Now the companies are engaged in brand cooperation.
     
The head offices are in Gothenburg in Sweden. It is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange and the US technology exchange Nasdaq.
     
Over 70% of the company’s 81,000 employees work in Europe.
     
Volvo has production in 25 countries, and operations in 130 countries.
     
Europe accounts for 56% of turnover, while 26% comes from North America and 10% from Asia.
     
Volvo, Renault, and Mack trucks account for 65% of turnover.
     
Volvo is the second-largest truck manufacturer after Daimler Chrysler, and the second-largest bus manufacturer after Evobus.
