The viewing and photographing of airplanes is now possible once more at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, even for those without a flight ticket.
Today, Thursday, an observation terrace is being introduced in the heart of the airport, from which even the non-flying public can spot airplanes.
The terrace is launched as part of the airport’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
Admission to the terrace is free.
The terrace is located on top of a tall office building behind the actual terminal structures and it offers a great vista over both of the main runways and the airport apron.
To solemnise the opening day and provide a little extra spice to proceedings, a spectacle of take-offs and landings by several retro aircraft as well as a flypast by a Finnish Air Force F-18 Hornet squadron have been organised.
