FRIDAY, 14.00: Multinational air force exercise to be held over Finland in May 2005
The Finnish Air Force is making preparations for an extensive and multinational air combat exercise to be held in Finland next spring.
Around 600 participants from six countries will make the event the largest military exercise of its kind to be arranged in the country so far.
Current plans indicate that Finland will be hosting planes and crews from the air forces of Sweden, Holland, the United States, France and Great Britain.
Among the fighter and fighter-interceptor aircraft that can be expected to take part are F-15Cs, Tornados, Hawks, Falcons, Gripens, Mirages, F-16 MLUs, and F-18 Hornets.
The planned locations for the joint exercise are the Air Force Academy at Kauhava and the Satakunta Air Command, based at Pirkkala, Tampere.
The exercise will be carried out over a period of two weeks from mid-May of next year.
