Kauppalehti, a financial journal published by the Alma Media, plans to institute a subscription fee for most of the content of its online edition.
From Monday non-paying readers will have access to 25 news items a month, and after reading just three articles, the reader will have to register as a user of the service.
The move byKauppalehti is part of an increasingly common trend in the Western press.
The financial newspapers Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal were among the first to restrict the amount of copy available to non-paying readers of their online editions.
