On Tuesday, December 6th, the main page of the Google internet search engine was decorated by a Finland-inspired Google doodle to mark the country’s Independence Day.
The Google doodles, artistic and sometimes funny versions of the company logo, have been published since 1998.
The December 6th doodle depicts a lake landscape with elements of the image, such as a whooper swan - Finland’s national bird - and the Finnish flag, forming the letters of the word "Google".
The Finland doodle was designed by Sophia Foster-Dimino from the Google headquarters.
Inspiration for the doodle was sought from the works of contemporary Finnish graphic artists and designers, such as Sanna Annukka, Google sources say.
