Finnish court concludes hearing testimony in Tanzania in Rwanda genocide case

 print this
East Uusimaa District Court has concluded the Tanzania phase of its trial of a resident of Porvoo accused of involvement in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.
The court heard testimony from 14 defence witnesses. The defendant, Francois Bazraramba, was not present in person, but he followed the proceedings by remote link from a prison in Vantaa.

The trip to Tanzania was the second time that the court travelled to Africa in the case. Last year sessions were held in Rwanda, where witnesses for the prosecution gave testimony.
The trial will now continue in Porvoo with final statements of both the prosecution and the defence. A verdict is expected sometime in the spring.
