Finnish exports grow despite paper stoppages
Finnish exports grew in May by ten percent compared with the same time last year.
In spite of the labour dispute in the pulp and paper industry, the Finnish National Board of Customs reports that the value of exports rose to EUR 4.2 billion. The greatest recipient country of Finnish goods was Sweden. Russia came second, bypassing Germany, which had previously held the position.
Exports of the wood and paper industry went down by 25% from May last year, but other main export fields grew considerably. The increase was greatest in oil products, motor vehicles, as well as machinery.
