For the third time, a break-in has occurred at the Finnish summer home of Russian documentary film director Andrei Nekrasov in Luumäki in South Karelia.
Some windows of the house have been shattered and some walls of the rooms have been smeared with spray-paint.
According to the Lappeenranta police, a man renovating Nekrasov’s holiday home reported the break-in to the police last Sunday.

”Because of the broken windows and other sabotage, the incident looks like a typical case of vandalism or like an ordinary break-in into an empty holiday home”, reports Detective Inspector Timo Valle from the Lappeenranta police.
However, Nekrasov himself says that the incident could be linked with his documentary film on the 2008 war between Russia and Georgia that is currently in production.
At present, no further investigations into the incident are pending, according to the Lappeenranta police.
”If the case had involved something more serious than just vandalism, the burglars would not have used spray cans as weapons”, Valle believes.
Andrei Nekrasov’s holiday home has been broken into twice before.
The previous break-in occurred in April 2007.

Then there were suggestions that the crime was linked with the film Nekrasov was making on his friend, the former Russian security service agent Aleksandr Litvinenko, who died in London in November 2006 after being poisoned.
The murder of Litvinenko has caused international debate relating to the alleged assassination activities of the Russian Federation's security services.

The Lappeenranta police investigated the break-in at Nekrasov’s holiday home in 2007 (see article), concluding that there was no evidence of anything else but an ordinary case of vandalism.
The police also investigated a theft which had taken place in 2002, but the case remained unsolved.
