Around two dozen Finnish peace activists were arrested by Scottish police on Monday at the Faslane naval base, more correctly known as HMNB Clyde, the home of Britain's nuclear submarine force.
The Finns were taking part in Faslane 365, a campaign geared to blockading the base by cutting off access to the main gates every day for a year, thereby exerting pressure on the government in Whitehall to abandon its undersea nuclear deterrent.
The Finns, who were taken to holding cells in several police stations in the area, are expected to be released today, Tuesday.

Faslane 365 has been launched by British nuclear disarmament groups such as Trident Ploughshare. They have been given flanking support by similar groupings from Scandinavia and from Belgium and France.
A heavy police presence was on hand on Monday to meet the 30 or so Finnish participants, who had travelled to Scotland last week.
A permanent Faslane Peace Camp has been set up outside the base since 1982, and demonstrations and protests have been commonplace at Faslane, often involving arrests for civil disobedience.
