Tonight, Thursday, sees the holding of the Finnish championships in pyrotechnics, with five fireworks companies competing for the title. The fireworks event, which has been hugely popular in the past, is in a new location this year, in Töölö.

The crowds and obvious safety considerations will lead to a number of streets in Töölö and Meilahti being closed off.
The competition begins at 21:30, and additional buses and extra carriages on trains will be in service to get people home.
VR (Finnish Railways) will be running their expanded Friday night service for commuter trains.
People planning to attend are - as usual - advised to leave their cars at home.
The event is organised by the commercial TV channel Nelonen.

The accompanying map shows the best viewing locations and the exclusion zone set up for boats in the Seurasaarenselkä stretch of water between Töölö and the island of Seurasaari. Seurasaari will be completely off-limits to spectators.
The fireworks themselves will be fired from a location on the smaller island of Rajasaari.
