The luxury yacht of German billionaire Reinhold Würth, a manufacturer of screws and other industrial hardware, has arrived in Helsinki.
Last Tuesday, the billionaire’s 85-metre-long yacht, the Vibrant Curiosity, which is powered by twin 4,680-horsepower diesel engines, was sailing in the waters off the coast of the Åland Islands.
According to Forbes magazine, the 76-year-old billionaire has around USD 10 billion worth of property, and he is among the world’s 100 richest people.
The German news magazine Der Spiegel points out in turn that Würth’s acquisition of the luxury yacht - worth USD 100 million - raised hackles in the spring of 2009, when the financial crisis was at its worst and Würth ordered 1,250 of his employees in Germany to reduce their working hours, cutting their pay by 15 per cent.
According to the magazine, the yacht carries a crew of 28 people. They can serve up to 14 guests, providing them accommodation in six double VIP suites, two luxury double cabins, and a master cabin .
Despite its huge length of 85 metres, the vessel, built by OceAnco of The Netherlands, ranks as only the 44th largest private yacht in the world, according to press reports, and is utterly eclipsed by the "gigayacht" Eclipse, owned by Roman Abramovich, which weighs in at a cool 164 metres.
Two slightly smaller luxury motor yachts - both over 100 metres stem to stern - belonging to Abramovich graced Helsinki waters this time last year.
