The Grammy-winning artist Duffy is to be one of the headliners at the Pori Jazz Festival this summer. Welsh-born Duffy, or Aimee Anne Duffy, 24, will perform at the Kirjurinluoto Arena on Thursday, July 16th.
A week and a half ago Duffy was awarded a Grammy for her debut album Rockferry.
Duffy’s breakthrough single was the soul-influenced Mercy and her Rockferry album was Britain’s best-selling record last year, with just under than two million units sold. In Finland Duffy’s album has already easily earned the singer a platinum record with around 33,000 CDs sold.

In the same Kirjurinluoto outdoor concert with Duffy will also be the American soul artist, songwriter, and producer Raphael Saadiq, 42, who started his career in the 1980s in the band called Tony! Toni! Toné!
The jazz portion of Thursday’s concert will be taken care of by the French accordion player Richard Galliano, whose band includes the bassist Richard Bona and pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
The complete programme of Pori Jazz 2009 will be made public next month.

Duffy was also a big winner at last night’s Brit Awards, held in London’s Earls Court. Duffy went home with three gongs from the UK music industry award ceremony.
She clinched Brits for Best British Album, Best Female Solo Artist, and Best British Breakthrough Act.
