The Helsinki restaurants Carma and Postres have each been awarded a star in the 2008 Guide Michelin Cities of Europe, which was released on Tuesday. Hans Välimäki’sChez Dominique holds on to its two stars and Tommi Tuominen and Teemu Aura’sDemo preserves the star it gained last year, but Jarmo Vähä-Savo’sG.W. Sundmans has lost its accolade, meaning that Helsinki (and Finland as a whole) now has four starred Michelin eateries. Carma is a relatively new establishment, owned by chef de cuisine Markus Aremo and located in the former premises of Chez Dominique on Ludviginkatu.
It is not Aremo’s first star, as he was also responsible for George, which earned a star some years ago. Postres, located on Esplanadi, is operated by Samuli Wirgentius and Vesa Parviainen, and as the name suggests it specialises in desserts.
The restaurant was established in 2006.
