According to the 2005 AETRA customer satisfaction survey, jointly conducted by the ACI (Airport Council International) and IATA (International Air Transportation Association), the Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport ranks among the best in the world.
According to the survey, where 66 airports worldwide were ranked through a customer satisfaction questionnaire completed by over 100,000 passengers, Helsinki-Vantaa is the third best airport in the world in its size-class (5-15 million passengers per year). Nagoya in Japan took top honours in this category.
Helsinki-Vantaa also earned the third place in the regional category ranking European airports.
The questionnaire invited travellers to evaluate the level of service at different airports in categories such as the level of general pleasantness, staff courtesy, clear directional signage, cleanliness of the terminal areas, service offerings such as shopping, dining and telecommunications, and computer services.
This was the sixth time that Helsinki-Vantaa was measured as one of the choice airports in the world.
South Korea’s Incheon International Airport was ranked as the best in the world. The joint first place in the European category went to Brussels and Copenhagen, followed by Zurich and Helsinki, who came in second and third respectively.
This year’s survey is the last one under the AETRA name. At the turn of the year, ACI launched a new programme called Airport Service Quality (ASQ). The ASQ programme hopes to include no less than 100 airports by the end of the year.
