The prices of detached houses in Finland fell during the second quarter of 2009 by about four per cent compared with the same time a year ago. The Greater Helsinki Area saw house prices come down by 6.8 per cent, against 3.7 per cent elsewhere in the country.
Compared with Q1 2009, on the other hand, the prices of single-family homes rose by an average of 1.9 per cent in the entire country.
This data derives from the Statistics Finland report on the prices of dwellings, based on the real estate purchase price registry kept by the National Land Survey of Finland.
The number of sold single family houses continued to decline in April-June this year.
In the capital area the number of exchanged contracts fell by a fifth compared with the corresponding period in 2008.
In Q2 2009 the price of plots for one-family houses was around 13 euros per square metre in the whole country, while the average plot size was 2,337 square metres.
Compared with the preceding quarter, the plot prices rose by 0.6 per cent in the country as a whole.
