Columnist Kaarina Hazard has publicly apologised to all the people who felt offended by her column on the late Tony Halme.
Hazard’s column regarding the media frenzy that followed Halme’s death was published last week by the late-edition tabloid Iltalehti. The same paper also published Hazard’s apology.
Hazard’s column led to more than a hundred complaints filed with the Council for Mass Media (CMM).
Hazard says that the column in question was not meant as criticism against Halme himself but was a slap at the media and its handling of the death of the former True Finns MP, boxer, and show wrestler.
The other late-edition tabloidIlta-Sanomat also reported on Wednesday that Halme had been dead for two days in his apartment when his body was discovered.
The official time of his death is now thought to be Friday January 8th, while police discovered the former MP's body only on Sunday.
The post-mortem confirmed that Halme took his own life with a pistol.
