Finnish soprano Karita Mattila has sold over a quarter of a million records on the Ondine label. According to IFPI Finland (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry), this makes her the all-time most successful Finnish artist in sales of classical music records.
Karita Mattila has recorded seven discs for Ondine, of which two have gone gold and three platinum. The quarter of a million milestone was achieved by the combined domestic and foreign sales of her records. Karitan joulu Christmas Songs (2003), Wonderful (1999) and Songs to the Sea (1998) have all gone platinum.
Currently, Mattila is performing in the role of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni conducted by Christoph Eschenbach at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Later this autumn she will again be on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, taking the lead in Leos Janácek’s Káta Kabanová.
