Some 74% of those who responded to an online questionnaire were of the opinion that Audi sales manager Esko Kiesi was spouting chauvinist views in the Anna article.
Nearly one in four took the view that Kiesi was speaking with tongue firmly in cheek, and slightly under 60% felt that a mountain was being made out of a not very large molehill.
The business communications agency Soprano uploaded its questionnaire on Wednesday of last week, and by the first afternoon just over 2,000 had given their views.
Around 45% believe that Kiesi should offer a public apology, while just over a third of respondents think the sales manager should be an ex-sales manager.
Two in three believe that the Audi brand-image will suffer as a result of the unguarded remarks.
