MTV3 poll shows slight decline in popularity of True Finns
 |
As Parliamentary elections approach, support for the big challenger in the elections, the True Finns party, appears to be in a slight decline.
A poll released by the commercial television network MTV3 gave the party 16.2 per cent support, down from 17 per cent.
The party’s chairman, MEP Timo Soini, said on the network’s evening news broadcast that he is not worried about the figures, as they constitute a nearly fourfold increase over the elections four years ago.
The poll, taken in March and early April, suggests that the race to be the largest party in Finland is now very close.
The survey gives the National Coalition Party 19.9 per cent support. The Centre Party gets just a tenth of a point less - 19.8 per cent, followed by the opposition Social Democratic Party with 18.1 per cent.
The survey involved telephone interviews taken between March 7th and April 4th.
Nearly 2,000 people were called by the pollsters, and 1,437 voiced their opinions.
The margin of error was placed at 1.8 percentage points.
