Checked luggage of dozens of Finnish travellers who have flown from London in the past week is still missing.
The Finnish airline Finnair says that the confusion that followed the recent terror alert has left a backlog about 20,000 pieces of luggage at Heathrow Airport.
Bags are trickling in every day, but dozens of items are still unaccounted for, says Usko Määttä, head of information at Finnair.
Some of the bags have been taken overland to different European airports, including Frankfurt, from where they will eventually be delivered to their owners.
Owners of bags that are completely lost will be compensated according to standard regulations.
Määttä notes that a considerable luggage chaos still prevails at British airports. The situation arose when it was revealed on Thursday that terrorists had planned to blow up passenger planes with explosives placed in hand luggage.
Restrictions on carry-on luggage were eased on Tuesday, but some of the restrictions are still in force.
Finnair has listed the current restrictions on hand baggage on flights to and from the UK and the USA on its website.
Passengers are now allowed to bring a single piece of hand luggage onto a plane; all liquids and gels need to be put in checked luggage. The only exceptions are essential prescribed medicines, whose authenticity must be checked. A baby's milk bottle and baby food can also be taken along, if an accompanying adult tastes it.
