Michelin ratings for Helsinki restaurants remain largely unchanged
Finnish capital still short of three-star eatery

Ratings for Helsinki restaurants remain unchanged in the latest edition of the Michelin Guide Rouge for the Main Cities of Europe, due to be published next week.
The Michelin office in Paris announced the ratings, which are always eagerly anticipated, on Tuesday.
As the only two-star restaurant in Helsinki, the small Chez Dominique on Ludviginkatu remains the best restaurant in town, in Michelin's view. The highest possible ranking in the French guide is three stars.
Restaurants G.W. Sundmans on Eteläranta and George on Kalevankatu both held on to their single star.
The Bib Gourmand markings, indicating value for money, or good food at moderate prices, also remained largely unchanged. Dineries Lyon, Safka, and Serata held on to this acclaim.
Chez Dominique’s chef de cuisine and co-owner Hans Välimäki says he was happy to see his restaurant maintained its rating. He had not anticipated a third star would be forthcoming.
Välimäki was slightly surprised, though, that no other Helsinki eateries were recognised at this time. "In my opinion a couple of other restaurants would also have deserved a star."
"I’m not going to say which ones, though. People in the business will know which ones they are."
