Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Alexander Stubb (National Coalition Party) will meet the United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton next Monday. Stubb will visit Washington D.C. at the invitation of Clinton.
The topics of the ministers’ discussion will include the North African situation, Afghanistan, Russia, as well as European security questions.
Stubb last met Clinton in Washington in May 2009. Since then Clinton’s visit to Finland has been pending. Last spring the intended visit was cancelled because of the volcanic eruption in Iceland.
According to information obtained by Helsingin Sanomat, Clinton was also meant to have taken part in an unofficial foreign ministers’ meeting at the Lapland resort of Saariselkä in March, but this meeting was cancelled owing to the turmoil in North Africa.
