More images from Juhani Niilekselä's collection of photographs of singular elevations in the Helsinki roofline.
The former Helsinki University of Technology student union building (top picture) dates from 1903 and is now a hotel.

Many of the buildings on both these pages are located in the southern part of the city, in districts such as Eira or Punavuori.
This in turn means that the residents of the upper floors of these turrets also enjoy a spectacular - and very expensive - sea view.
The only example here from the formerly working-class quarter of Kallio is the house on the corner of Helsinginkatu and Harjukatu, the second picture in this sequence.
