More than 50,000 Finns "don't do Christmas"

One in a hundred Finns does not celebrate Christmas. This means that around 53,000 people in Finland will not be celebrating the holidays this year.
One obvious grouping that does not mark the event is those who do not celebrate Christmas for religious reasons.
There are currently approximately 30,000 Muslims in Finland, around 18,000 Jehovah's Witnesses, and 1,500 Jews, who do not celebrate the Christian festival.
At the same time there are also Christian Finns who will not be doing anything for Chrtistmas.
This smaller group is predominantly made up of those living alone and under straitened circumstances, and the unemployed.
The numbers come out in a recent survey carried out for the Association for Finnish Work. A total of 1,300 respondents were asked about how they spend Christmas, drawn from the population between the ages of 15 and 74.
The Association for Finnish Work (Suomalaisen Tyƶn Liitto) is an expert organisation charged with enhancing the position of Finnish work by promoting the success of Finnish companies and entrepreneurship. It has about 1,300 member companies and organisations, most of which use the Key Flag origin mark for their products or services.
