Myötätuulirock music festival encounters difficulties Michael Monroe

The Vantaa-based Myötätuulirock (“Tail Wind Rock”) music festival is not exactly living up to its name, and is currently facing a slight head wind.
The organisers of the happening have been forced to cancel their contracts with headliners Michael Monroe, Apocalyptica, Amorphis, Stam1na, and Kotiteollisuus.
The reason for this has been the slow start to the advance sales of tickets. According to the contracts, the performers’ fees should have been paid in advance, but this has not been possible.
“This is not the bands’ fault”, promoter Petri Bakker emphasises. “Nowadays there is so much competition that people make their ticket purchase decisions only a few days before the actual event. For us this presents a difficult situation, as, unlike larger organisers, we do not have a lot of money in our pockets beforehand.“

The festival is now trying to replace the cancelled stars with smaller acts.
Consequently, the ticket prices have been nearly halved.
Those who have already purchased the more expensive tickets will be compensated the difference. They are also allowed to return the tickets for a full refund.
The Myötätuulirock event will take place in the Hakunila Sports Park in Vantaa on August 3rd-4th.
