New municipal elections are to be held in the southern Finnish communities of Karkkila, Kauniainen, and Vihti on Sunday, September 6th. An official decision on the matter is expected in early May.
The Supreme Administrative Court decided last week that the elections must be repeated because of flaws in electronic voting, which was tried in the communities on an experimental basis last autumn.
Discussions involving representatives of the three communities and the Ministry of Justice revealed that holding the re-vote in connection with the elections for the European Parliament in June would not be feasible.
