Nightwish album makes it into UK chart on release

The Finnish symphonic metal act Nightwish has for the first time broken into the official UK Album Chart.
The band’s latest CD Dark Passion Play entered the chart at 25, well within the official Top 40 list.
As a rule, making it to the coveted British album chart has been an uphill struggle for Finnish bands. Before Nightwish, only four other groups - HIM, The Rasmus, Bomfunk MC’s, and Hanoi Rocks - have succeeded in the effort.
The current number one album on the UK chart is Bruce Springsteen’s new release Magic, followed by Katie Melua’s Pictures and Foo Fighters’ Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace.
Nightwish are about to begin a lengthy world tour, with the first 23 dates in the United States. They will play a number of gigs in the UK and Ireland in March and April of next year.
There will be an article about the first date on the Nightwish tour, a one-off gig in Tel Aviv, in today's weeklies.
