
Niinistö’s votes slightly more expensive than those of Haavisto
Presidential candidate Pekka Haavisto (Green League) spent a total of EUR 725,000 on his election campaign, indicates the advance report on his campaign funding that was submitted to the National Audit Office of Finland last Friday.
According to the election results confirmed by the Ministry of Justice, Haavisto gained a total of 1,076,957 votes in the second round.
In other words, the price of one vote was EUR 0.67.
Sauli Niinistö’s (National Coalition Party) campaign expenses were EUR 1,296,821.54. As Niinistö’s number of votes was 1,802,400, each one of his votes might be seen as worth EUR 0.72.
